Anyone notice an occasional whining noise from their B Class. I have B180 CDi with Autronic gearbox.
The whine sounds a classy one, but neverless it is there. Not really sure where such a noise might come from?

Usually at slow speeds. When I asked to the dealer he said it's up to 34 km/h and has known by the factory.
According to the dealer it's because of the combination of relatively weak engine power and autotronic gear box.
But I got used to it.

That's interesting to know....I agree it's always at low speeds and at the lower end of the Autotronic. Have never noticed it when crusing along.
On some occassions the whine is more noticeable than others. Sometimes it's almost non-existent.
Did your dealer make any other comments?

We're talking about both diesel and gasoline engine cars. B 150 is a 95 hp car.So weakness of the engine is the cause of whining according to MB.

A friend of mine has a B200T. Same issue; it turns out it's the turbo. You can hear it on lower speeds, but not on higher speeds. It might be the same for you.

My whining sound is because of the transmission.
