which clk? help

Hi i just signed up to this site to get some advice on CLK's i dont own one but am looking to buy one soon. (in the UK)

With my budget i can choose from the following models:
200
230
320

probably a 1999/00 model.

As there are so many model choices and variants can any one tell me which is the fastest, 0-60 time rather than mororway cruising, or should i assume the one with the biggest engine is quickest.

Also what is the difference between the elegance and the avantgarde models.

the 200 and 230 come in sport mode, are these worth considering ?

a lot of them are k kompressor models, what is this and is it better to have a K ?

and finally are the tiptronic gearboxes any good ?

i did have a quick search of the site to see if these q's have been posted before but couldnt find anything

any advice would be much appreciated

thanks but the MB website only covers the 200 model , and thats assuming i can buy brand new which im not i was hoping for some real world advice

The CLK models you ask about aren't available in the US, so most of us have no knowledge of them. U.S. options in '00 and '01 were CLK320 & CLK430 both plain. AMG and Cabriolet. The tiptronic transmission is fun to play with down/up shift, but has given some owners problems (do a search on this site- go to 'search' option above- enter subject).

My personal preference, get the largest engine you can. Your driving habits will determine fuel effeciency but you'll have the power IF and when you ever need it.

Most posts that are anti-CLK with major issues involve elcetrical/electronic problems that were difficult to pinpoint & resolve.

I agree with BatonRouge,

I'd go for the larger engine.

The 320 is a pretty solid engine and is found in many Benz throughout the states.

The 230 isn't too bad as long as it's a Kompressor.

Go for an E Class diesel

they dont look as good as the clk .......
