top problem

i have a 2001 slk 320, the top worked perfectly until all of a sudden it will only cycle back to the trunk part opening and then nothing happens. You hear the motor going but it will not fold up the top into the trunk area. It sounds as if the motor keeps running but nothing happens and the red light stays on, it never starts falshing. Any ideas? Thanks for any help in advance.

i just got a 99 slk230 and is doing the same thing. worked twice, and now will only retract to the trunk..

thanks, i think it may be the sensors. printed out a parts sheet to take with when i go to where i purchased the vehicle, only a week ago. no warranty. should have spent the 3k for the 4yr warranty. live and learn, they still have a 50/50 policy for 30 days. so hopefullly, it won't be too bad. thanks again for responding so quickly...
