Hello:

March of this year, I purchased an E320 Turbo Diesel 1998 model year.  It had one owner previously who drove it exclusively in California.  It had about 70K miles and was in pretty nice condition with very minor items which I repaired.  Since the weather didn''t turn very hot, we didn''t need the air conditioning on until recently and noticed that the passenger side vents were blowing out hot air.  Also depending on the settings, hot air also blows out toward the floor or the windshield when the air conditioning is on.

Is there a simple solution to this? Can I fix this myself?

Also, does anyone know of a good online source for Mercedes parts?

Thank you.

is it just the passanger side vents blowin hot air? or all of them? If all of them, try charging the system.

The passenger side vents all blow hot air - top, floor, and face.  The center and driver side vents blow cool air.

Thanks.

Flush your system and recharge it.  Go to a reliable European auto mechanic.  If he''s worth his salt, he''ll be able to tell you if the A/C freon is low... if so, the hoses should be inspected for a leak.  I had the same problem and a recharge (with a hose on the "low" side) did the trick.  My duovalve was okay but your mechanic should check it out.  Best of luck to you!  Nice car.
