I have a 2002 C320 and I keep getting messages saying "R Back up light out" and "check R tail light". I checked all of the bulbs and they all seem to be working but I cant get the malfunctions to go away. Anybody know whats going on or have had this problem?????????

Hi.
I have 2002 c240. I had problem with he tail light. The message was to check it and that the substitue light is on. Then my fron right signal statred to malufunction. I took it to the dealer they said they replaced the harness ( or that they updated the harness) and did some programing. What harness i don't know i woud assume the one that goes to the light. but i am not sure. I tired to clean the connectors by myself before going to dealer but it didn't help. It is scary that those cars have so many electrical issues.

This happend to me as well...I have a 2002 C240. I kept getting the malfunction that my left license plate bulb was out. I would check it and everything was fine. Once I got to my destinanation and got back in the car it would be gone.

I get bulb malfunction warnings and found that the bulb and bulb holder were fine but the circuitry on the lens assembly was fried. I have had to replace two lens assemblies on my E320's.....shame on Mercedes.$100 each. If your having a similair problem look where the bulb seats itself on the assembly, it may appear burnt or overheated .

check to make sure the socket in the lamp assembly is ok. sometimes the burn out and get all melty looking. at first that will cause false warnings, as it gets worse it can cause chronic bulb failure.
