SL55 AMG...Calling all owners

Hi:  I am looking for SL55 owners to get together with and share info and experiences.

If anyone has any experience in rechipping their car to get rid of that silly 155mph speed limiter I would like to hear your experience and recommendations.

I know what you mean!! I have a '04 SL55 AMG and I've been looking at Brabus to do some chip mods for even more H.P.

Hi Ingenere; I've a 2004 SL55 too since December. I don't know (yet) how to rechip but I've good contacts to Mercedes and might find out a legal way to do without warranty problems

The AMG in Germany offers a chip that allows a top speed fo 186mph, with special tires and suspension.

At what speed does the SL55 in question become drag-limited? Probably 186mph?

By the way, what are you gonna do at 160mph or 186mph that you can't do at 155mph?

I think the hot setup right now is the Renntech Performance Upgrade. I just had the Renntech kit installed in my SL55 (04) and it took it to 533hp and 561 lbs-ft of torque. It was fast , now is scary !! Way cool!! It also increase the top speed too. You can call them at (561) 845-7888. I had kit # 09 230 00 92 installed.

Car reports in Australia from Magazines and newspaprs tell me that you can ask for the limiter removed on all AMG models when you buy. A test by Motor Magazine(Australian) clocked a SL55 at 326km\h (204mph). What are you going to do at that speed compared to 155mph? Save lots of time on long distance trips.Flyingphil38087.8796875
