sl500 gps software

is anyone else as dissatisfied with the gps street level resolution as i am..
i have a 2003 sl500  cd based gps...im running the latest (07) software release.
the street level resolution is not as good as a 150 buck tom tom...anyone have
suggestions  or share the same feelings.

I hear you.  MB GPS systems (even in the '07's) are sub par for what you are paying for. I have the same CD based system in my '04 SL600 and even the DVD based system in my E500 is still FAR inferior to the Nav system in my wife's '04 Toyota Land Crusier. Unfortuantely you really don't have any options except to live with it.  I just can't imagine Mercedes is not aware of this.

I would say the same....TomTom is sheaper and much more better.

I agree. I have the 07 cds and they do not even compare to the $350  Garmin Streetpilot which I take with me in the Benz.  Plus, you can update the portable units on your home computer with the latest maps.
It's truly sad the Mercedes doesn't keep up here.  But remember, they were one of the last car makers to finally accept cupholders in their cars as well.
