I just purchased a 2003 S55 AMG. I wanted to add a little HP for an affordable price. I just purchased two K&N air filters, obviously because the car has two air filters instead of one. Any other mods for a small price that you would recommend that will bump up the HP a bit? I saw Kleeman has a staged kit as does Rentech etc, upgrading the ECU and pulleys, but asking about 5K, which is a bit too steep. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch...

Tser - you could go for onlya a flash upgrade - without hardware changes. Neuspeed and their dealers can in fact help you out with a flash from OptiCan.net This flash upgrade will give you about 25hp and about 30nm more. The cost will not be to high - in Europe this would cost about 1500 usd.

Have you done the ECU upgrade without any hardware mods and seen the results? The only reason why I ask is that some of these manufacturers will post some surreal HP gains. I'm wondering if you have experienced it or witnessed it on any other AMG supercharged vehicle. If it's true, that 25HP gain is worth it!

Just checked, no OPTICAN dealer in my area. Called one down in FL, and they said they need the vehicle, as it's done via the ODB2 port, so I can't just send them the ECU. Shucks...

ECU upgrade or pulley kit will give most gains for its value.

Yes, done it - seen it. Works very nice ;-) With a new pulley, you will get more more, but it will cost you at least a grand more.

OK, no OptiCan dealer in your area, then just hook the ecu off and send it to Neuspeed in CA - they have this free shipment stuff andy ou'll have your ecu back in some days - - at least this should work if they have the ecu cables there. Call them and they'll give you answer :-)
