I have tried to program my homelink system for my garage door control with no luck. Any suggestions?

you have to read the instructions that came with your garage door opener,
its a security thing, without that anybody would be able to program their car to your door opener. if i remember right you have to do it while your car is in the garage, while holding a switch on the door opener. yours might be different.
