Can anybody tell me about remote starters for a 2005 C240 4matic? I cannot find one on the MB website, the aftermarket sites are no help, and I am not up for the dealer's price. Where would I get one, and what is the one to get, and what is involved in installing it. I cannot believe that the car is not prewired, and all that is necessary is to plug in a module. It ought to be a hundred dollar factory option. Thanks for your help.

I took my 99 C280 to a very good and reputable aftermarket audio shop. They also do starters, alarms etc.
they would not touch my car or any newer mercedes, due to the electonrics. One mistake and they are in trouble, or if it seems to work, it will fail. They tried a few years ago, but not will not do any Benz from 97 up according to the model and 2000 up no benz. There have been post about this before and folks have tried to wire their own and had some very, very expensive repairs. If your car don't come with one, then it don't want one.

Hate to breake it to ya but you can't put a remote start on any mercedes with the laser key, unless you want to replace the computer after every 6 or so attempts to remote start the vehicle. As of yet no one has made an interface for our sex turds.

My thoughts exactly. But fear not, plans are in the works at the DEI labs for a bypass but be advised that it will cost alot more than a hundred bucks to make it work.

your purpose is just to warm the interior so you can get into the car without the freezing cold?
then just retrofit the stationary heater.
it got timer and remote too.

I wonder if it will help that I made them give me two extra keys as part of the deal. Wish it had buttons on the door like a Ford. I tell you, it was real hard to spend the five grand more over the Mercury Montego. That is a knock your socks off car when it is all dressed up. Door buttons, fold down huge back seat, huge trunk, in-dash 6 cd, and a freakin eyeglass holder in the overhead console.
How hard would it be to program the remote start right into the computer and be done with it?

this one.
your VIN is needed to determine which set is best suited for your car.
it is original accessory from mercedes-benz designed for your car.

I do not understand how this works. Is there something about it that causes the car to start remotely?

no. it cannot start the car.
it is an independent heater which also use the same gasoline with your car.
it can start remotely or you can set the timer to let it run on a certain time.
it will warm up the car interior.
you can also use the heater with engine off. it will save you gas.

I just finished up a 2002 s500 and the install was very complicated it involved a new ingnition cylinder and I had to open the cylender and solider on to the computer circuit inside. It has to be controled by a custom transistor controll circuit. If the vehicle has push button start it is less complicated. I would be happy to discuss the installation more in detail by phone.
Thank you,
