Quiznos Sub

With all the hype on TV about Quiznos' Prime Rib Sub, I thought I'd get one today. It was my first time at Quiznos.
Anyway, that friggin' thing cost over $10! Just the sandwich. No drink, no chips, no pickle, nothing else. Okay, it was a large with double portions--kinda like "supersized," but still. $10 not including a drink or a side seems a bit high for a sandwich. I guess I won't be going back for more.

I think all fast food has become too expensive. Except maybe for Taco Bell which is salty garbage anyway.
I like Arby's fresh sandwiches. Also expensive, but more like I might make at home.
Have youe seen the movie " SuperSize me"?

It's all salty garbage, even in restaurants. I eat out nowadays for the convenience, not for the fine cuisine, though there is still some scattered here and there.
I like Arby's, too. My favorite isn't even a roast beef sammy, though. I like their Market Fresh BLT the best. Some curly fries and a Jamocha shake and I'm rockin'.
That Supersize Me movie was "enlightening." But I don't eat fast foods very often. Maybe once every two weeks or so. I'll go anytime for a calzone, however.

$10 plus $3.00 or so for a drink and chips. I don't like spending over $5 for lunch if I eat out.

I mean for even just 10 bux for lunch u can go to a ruby tuesdays or some where. Plus since i know ur in GA Lug there are BBQ places and i love real BBQ as in slow cooked over a wood fire. MMM MMM Good.

Exactly. For $13 or $14 you can get a good steak meal at Longhorn's or Outback. For lunch, that would include a drink and dessert. Quiznos is just a rip. No way around it.
I don't know what happened, but it's hard to find a BBQ place anymore down here. I only know of one and it used to be a BigBoy's or something. There aren't any roadside places like there were when I first got here in '02. They must be illegal now. They're all shut down.

Last time i was down south was May 04. In NC and SC there were places still everywhere and over in AL there were some. Thats sad to hear though the Best BBQ is Carolina style with the vinegar based sauces.

so...
did it taste good, or was the flavor diminished by the price?
looks really good & want to try it. only have 1/2 hour for lunch and the closest quiznos is too far to get there, eat it and get back.

It tasted good. The Prime Rib sub is a hot sandwich with lots of gooey cheese just like I like it.
They also have bread bowls filled with soup that I wanted to try. They look really good. Four kinds of soup. I don't know if I will or not. I didn't check the prices.

just the way i like it too.
quiznos is about the same in price as steak escape or penn station.
depends upon the size (half or whole) and whether you get double meat or not.
i also like their chicken carbonara and the black angus...mmmmm mmmmm good!
i haven't tried the soups yet. don't get to eat at quiznos very often.
if there is a max & erma's close to you, you have got to try them. it is one of my favorite places to eat at. in fact, hubby is taking me there tomorrow for our 19th wedding anniversary.
tortilla soup & giant soft pretzels. yum, yum, yum.

Sadly, I think most of us don't have too much time to actually sit down in a restaurant for lunch so we grab a quick bag of "Pre-shit", install it and get back to work, a little less hungry and certainly not satisfied.
We have Shari's restaurants here that do a good lunch and breakfast crowd because all the others are gone. A few mom and pop's are left, but I don't have time to wait for my order there. All of us need more time I guess.

I haven't seen a Penn Station, Steak Escape, or Max and Erma's here or anywhere I've been. Those are all new to me. We have Philly Connection here that makes traditional Philly cheesesteaks. I love those. Subway is the only other sub place I know of here. I can do without them, though.

There are a few (not very many) decent restaurants around here. My idea of decent is home cooking, Southern cooking, or something unique but not "gourmet" and ridiculous. Gainesville, a small town close to me, is the "Chicken Capital of the World," or at least used to be. No, really. There's a monument to the chicken in the town square. It's illegal there to eat chicken with a fork. Anyway, the old downtown square was restored and it has some really nice eclectic bars, restaurants, and various shops. I like it there. There's nice food and nice drink there and outdoor space in the square. It's small Southern town-style, not a wild night club place.

Lunch is one thing I have to do in a hurry which makes my selections s short.. I find it hard to find a decent home cooked meal unless I make it my self. I guess it just hat those kind of meals are not that popular. We have large smörgåsbords that have all you can eat dinners with everything you can think of... home style. They are a little bland and are VERY popular with people of all ages.
I hate eating in bars do to the smell of urine and smoke. Even if the food is good, the atmosphere is well, poor.

I'm talking about nice restaurant bars in a nice neighborhood, not biker bars. Geez. These are bars where people pee in the toilets and flush them when they're done. Smoking is banned in all public places in Georgia, except for bars that do not allow children. Those aren't the good places to eat. They have pickled eggs in a huge jar sitting on the bar and crap like that. Good restaurants allow children.
Anyway, you can call ahead and have a meal waiting for you at most restaurants. Just carry some menus in your glove box.

Well then, I wonder what kind of bar you're talking about that smells like urine and is smoke-filled?
I'm talking about places like Bennigan's or Applebee's. The places in the town square in Gainesville are equivalents, but aren't chains. There's a nice micro-brewery by my house that's also a fine steakhouse restaurant. These places have no smoke and no urine smell. They're very clean, pleasant, family-friendly, and serve good food.

Quiznos has always been overpriced and over rated

Since I don't smoke or drink anymore, most of 'um.

Those places are around here too, but a $10 lunch that I have to sit down for is a rare oportunity. My time is just too limited most days.

Then why do you go to smoke-filled, urine-smelling bars? You must if you know how they smell and what the air is like. You won't eat their food, whatever it is. You won't quaff their drink, whatever it is. And you don't smoke, which is good, BTW. I guess bars are different in the NW? They ALL smell like urine, or now, "most of 'um" do.

I wasn't asking if those were up there or whether you had time to eat lunch in them. I know we touched on that point, but we went past it. I was using them as examples of restaurant bars that don't smell like urine and aren't smoke-filled, because you said all bars are that way. Are they in the NW?
You're really hard to have a conversation with. You keep shifting and sliding and morphing what you've said or meant. Like you say one thing but you really mean something else. But it's hard for me to determine whether you don't say what you really mean or you change it after you say it. That's what makes it difficult for me to follow you.
