I am having the worst time of my life..the other night i opened the sliding roof of my c230 kompressor sports and the next morning i realized that it was a not properly closed in the rear end. I try opening the roof again and it did but i wouldn't close all the way due to a cracking sound.
Now here in Florida is raining so i had to take my benz to the dealership which hasn't even have the courtesy of inspecting my car for two days eventhough a roof incident is considered an emergency for them. I really need advise in this situation, i know the roof has a manual mechanism which has to be operated by a "key" included in the car which i have no idea where is it. I am thinking about going to the dealership tomorrow and get my car back and try to close it myself!! any ideas of what could be causing this problem?

There is a manual allen wrench that you can use to close your sunroof...

Hello Mar and thanks for your response. The car is a 2002.

On a 2002 C230 Kompressor...there is a way to manually close it, but it's a little tricky coz you might have to remove the OCP (Overhead Control Panel) Module.  Your car should have came with a allen tool...about 7 inches long, and it should be located either in your tool kit, or in the glove box.  If it's not in there then your only option is to go to a dealership near you.  Sorry for your trouble...

take care,

I would be wary about hand cranking it if you heard a crunching sound, something is loose and should be cleared before attempting to close it all the way. I had a similar problem with a 1998 C230, it was some sort of plastic guide the sun-roof slid on. I think it fit over the runner to provide a better surface, I was never sure. I opened the roof and removed it, I could not see where it went or if there was another on the other side, but the roof slid shut just fine and remained without this piece for as long as I owned the car. Did not leak and it worked fine.
