I am looking to purchase a 2003 or 2004 ML350 and am interested in the Inspiration model. I have noticed a few ML350 Sport models that have more of the options that I was looking for (CD player, NAV, etc.). It appears that the only differences in the Sport and Inspiration models are the fender flares, interior wood color, wheels/tires, and very minor other things. I was wondering if anyone knows if mechanically the ML350 Sport is identical to the ML350 Inspiration?

I assume that the Sport is just another cosmetic option package and the suspension, engine, gearing, AMG/Sport interior are all identical to the inspiration model. Any responses would be greatly appreciated..... thanks.

I will answer my own question because I bought the 2003 ML350 Sport model. This ML350 came with an AMG exhaust (I don't know if they come from the factory that way) and 17x8.5 rims with 275/55 R17 tires. Other than that I don't have the dark wood interior, it is a lighter wood tone. I also don't have the chrome ring guages. I do have the ML55 treatment with fender flares and the ML55 front and rear bumpers. As far as suspension, engine and transmission I think they may be the same, although the gearing may be slightly different or the AMG exhaust adds a few HP because it seems faster off the line and accelerating from 60-90 mph. Overall I love the truck. Now for the 20's or 22's and some stiffer shocks/slightly lower springs and it will be perfect. I don't have the CD changer, but do have the NAV option, so I need to add that, but I am very happy with it. I moved up from an Infiniti QX4 which is a decent SUV, but does not compare to the Merc.

Very good information on this site... Thanks.
