i am seriously considering buying a used 2004-2005 clk 320/430/500 cabriolet but I have heard that there are so many electrical problems with this model and that I should stay away. I test drove 2 and they feel really nice and at $23,000-$26,000 they are the right price for me but i am scared i may be stuck with a lemon and tons of electrical problems.
there are 3 pages of complaints about this car in the MB website from airbag not working, car not starting the first day, loud engine noises, and every electronical problem you can think of. even with running a carfax, test driving, and a second opinion from a mechanic i am scared that i might be stuck with a lemon because some electrical problems dont show up on the car until after 50k and the warranty is over. what can i do to make sure that i don't get stuck with a car full of problems?
I am thinking that the second hand car dealer would at least do some minimal checks on the car and not want to get stuck with the repair costs so that the chance of me getting a lemon from a used car dealer would be slightly less despite alot of dealers selling straight junk. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated for I need to pick up a car this weekend.

while this is a fun car to drive, here is a list of problems i have had to deal with. and in summary the level of service from MB is horrible, i have to fight with them to get anything done. mine is a 2005 CLK55 AMG Cabriolet with 22,100 miles.
most importantly, get one with a warranty as these cars are expensive to fix.
transmission leak
stuck drivers window
discolored convertible latches
cracked turn signal lens in drivers mirror
cracked tail light
broken speaker grill
i have these listed separately because they are due to an accident the car was in (It was a CPO and i am not the origianl owner)
damaged tire
stripped wheel hub
peeling paint
