Looks like my battery has died and I've tried my three manual keys to open the boot lock. Key goes in (after greasing) but does not turn at all. As a result, can't get to battery. Is there another manual release for the boot in the car ?

I have got exactly the same problem. This is already the second time. Last time around I was lucky as the back seat rests weren't locked back into the their position so I could crawl from the inside of the car into the boot. Fortunately the manual key works with the front door. This time around I am stuck. I bought a solar-powered trickle charger which I plugged into the cigarette lighter, but after a few days I still couldn't see any indication of successful charging activity. I have heard that with some cars the cigarette lighter connection to the battery is only live if the key is in position one. This is a double whammy Catch 22. The only other thing I can think of is to find a connection somewhere under the bonnet where I could hook up the trickle charger.
Have you had any luck?
Thanks,
Tom

the manual key on my car will open the truck to allow access to the battery but only after alot of stressful fiddling with it. it takes thick strong fingers so i had to find a man to do it for me but eventually we got it open

I agree with ilovemyclk. I've had the same issue with the dead battery, I called MB mobile services and he manhandled the manual key: Trunk opened!
