Does anybody have the WIS procedure for changing the cap & rotor in a M119.972 engine? Dealer says they must do it as there's some special rotor brackets (?) requiring special tools. I thought from the other posts here its pretty much a DIY job - any help appreciated.

gusto mo mag download ng WIS?

i will give you the instructions on how to install. you must have a windows 2000 with service pack2 during installion. after that, you can upgrade to service pack4 if you want.

better if you got a free extra computer so you can format and install fresh OS. i can provide you all the softwares.

Hey thanks Sleepwalker. I'll try and source a spare computer and I'll get back to you for the instructions to download the WIS...

Replacement jobs don't get any easier than the cap and rotor on an M119. Know this: they modified the rotor button along the way, and to go with an older engine they will tell you that you need an adapter. But if you file away a bit of material from the new rotor button you don't need the adapter. That is the way I went when I replaced my rotors recently.

Thanks for your input. I've ordered the caps and I'll give it a go. I'm a bit wary doing work on these cars as things seem to be very delicate and sensitive. For example, I replaced the visor clip and ended up blowing the fuse for the visor mirror light as I must've accidentally shorted something - the visor clip is apparently used as ground for the light! The dist cap itself is held by 3 allen screws. The dealer said cap is a bit worn and they have the 'necessary' MB tools to replace them. On japanese cars, caps are normally just secured by 2 quick release clips.

Hey SleepW, sorry for the dumb question but how do I remove the hood (18) to get to the distributor cap?

better remove it while the engine is hot for the plastic is a little bit brittle due to weathering (heat and cold). while it's hot... it's more flexible.

on the side there's a small hook...plastic.

Yep, got it thanks. It was brittle indeed when cold and was afraid I'd break the hook. Little tips like this helps.
