Low Tire Pressure and ABS

1997 C230: Can extremly low tire pressure in one of the rear tires cause the ABS system to detect a failure and illuminate the ABS warning lamp. I am guessing that the decreased circufrence of the tire may cause the ABS sensor to detect that the tire is rotating faster than normal ????????
