Hi, new to the board and used the search button, but couldnt find a thread on this
but I'm looking to purchase a 00-02 s430 or 00-02 cl500 after selling my BMW e38, and I was looking to find out what common problems or issues I should look for or forward to when buying the 430
anything and everything would be of great help

I think it is safe to say that for the last ten years MB quality is a tarnished star. I have had my 00 S430 with 75K for 3 months and thus far no problems and I love it. The maechanical parts engines, transmissionsdifferentials, etc seem to be as good as ever. It's the ESP/BAS, Air suspension sensors, various relays that have the greatest potential to go south. With that info I bought mine without hesitation because the risk is worth it for me.

I bought a S500 2001. 39K Miles.
The suction fan control module had to be replaced. (caused fan to not work- overheating)
Windscreen wipers replaced.
The wheels refurbished.
The AC control module reset.
The wheels rebalanced.
All normal stuff except for the first point.
