I have a 1982 300D Turbo. The oil gauge is leaking badly to the point where it is dripping over my pants now. I tried to tighten the connection, but I do not think that is where it is coming from. Appears to be coming from the instrument panel.
Is there a way to plug the connection at its source thus disabling it and stopping any further oil leaks inside the car? Where is the connection located on the block? Is it accessible and what kind of plug would I need to plug it?

This sounds after market my 87 is all electric, but temporary you can use a 1/8" npt plug to plug it at the engine use tef tape or pipe dope on it. Most likey you have 1/8" tubing going to your gauge it may be loose at the gauge or the tubing has cracked/ split. You can get new tubing at the auto parts and new ferrules. Use the old tubing to pull the new threw the fire wall or switch to electric and keep the oil out of the passenger compartment
