I recently purchased a '92 500 SL with only 40,000 miles. Car is in beautiful condition except hardtop is leaking on both driver's side and passenger side. Water seems to be coming in from upper front corner of window. Does anyone know if seals in this area can be replaced and if it's a job that's easily done? Also, looking for a good repair manual. Any suffestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it water or is it hydraulic fluid? If it is hydraulic fluid see posts on this page about leaking hydrraulic latch for top. It is a very easy fix.

Definitely not hydraulic fluid. It's water and it leaks alot when it rains heavy.

Steve,
I expect your 500-SL has a glass top ??, It means that the top was cracked or broken and has been replaced for a new glass !!
This is not a problem but it was probably replaced by a Non-mercedes agent (Auto Glass - windscreen repair)...
Purchase some Hermetite clear window seal - Non hardening waterproof sealer..
If you look at the front of the glass top very close to the front pillars try to peel back the rubber and slowly squeeze the sealant
in between the glass and the rubber, after it has dried use a sharp stanley knife to remove excess sealant..
Mine use to leak like hell when it rained and the water use to pour onto my knee and the passengers knee,
No problem now, just take your time and you will see where the water is coming in !!
Hope it helps, if not i can take some photos to show you......

Actually, not a glass top, but I'm going to try your suggestion anyway. Thanks for responding and for hopefully solving my leaking hardtop!

There are small drain holes near the corners or the windshield. They are probably clogged. I looked in WIS and it never said anything about these drain holes. It talked about the gaskets needing sealing and other stuff.
I took a hanger and gently pushed it into the holes and sprayed warm water in with a hand sprayer on the stream setting. It took several tries to get it flowing again but it worked. I tested it by slowly putting water at the top of the holes and watched it drain down. The issue came back a little this year but I cleared it out much quicker and easier.
I do not know if there are any wires or things in there so be gentle.
