starter/starter solenoid, starter cut-out relay, loose battery connection, etc.

camshaft position sensor/signal, crankshaft position sensor/signal, fuel system/supply/pressure/pump.

what did they say the fault code was?

CHECKED STARTER CIRCUIT - NO FEED !
POSS.ALARM FAULT ? - CAR SUDDENLY FIRED UP ????
WENT 500 YARDS - CUT OUT A ROAD JUCTION !!! - DANGEROUS ??

SLK is already using EIS and this is not one of the symptoms.

i didn't know that Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) is doing recovery jobs now.

let me study the starting circuit system/relay tomorrow. this is interesting case. what makes it more interesting was that there is no fault.

it is not the alarm system, it can't be. the authorization stays on memory till sleep mode. i'll check the service informations also.

really dangerous. make sure the insurance is still valid. more dangerous stopping on the expressway.

starter signal or circuit malfunction i think, but it stalls while the car is running!...right? the instrument cluster is fully functional which means the terminal 30 is fine.

we will get to that one, keep in touch.

not CPS.

starter can still work even if CPS is faulty.

mike, i reply from there.

at least i got somebody to argue with and share opinion.

they all makes sense, and correct.

but remember that we are only discussing the symptom according to your explanation without the aid of diagnosis.

AAAAAARRRRRRGHHHHHH !!!!

THE USELESS MERC.DEALER HERE IN KENT HAS HAD MY CAR
ALL DAY (6.5 HRS.) AND THEY HAVE JUST TOLD ME -THEY ARE
UNABLE TO FIND A FAULT ??????
I PHONED THEM YESTERDAY WITH THE FEEDBACK & INFO FROM
THIS AND OTHER FORUM AND LEFT PRINTOUTS OF THE INFO FOR
THEM. BUT THEY HAVE WASTED ALL DAMN DAY WITH THE DIAG.COMPUTER
TRYING TO FIND A FAULT ?? - DESPITE THE FACT THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT
SHOW DIAG.FAULTS ? ?
6.5 HOURS @ £90 AN HOUR = £585 (1,000$) FOR SOD ALL ?????
AND THEY ARE STILL CARRYING ON THE SAME WAY ?????
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NEXT ???????????
mikeallan

LATEST
DEALER PHONED - NOW 7.5 HRS - TO SAY IT MIGHT BE
TRANSPONDER IN KEY ?

WILL KEEP U ALL POSTED

PISSED OFF OF KENT

transponder in ignition sitch.

means it cannot recognize the key.

the only questionable behavior is: it stalls while the car is running.

the transponder is just a part of the starting system, and once the car is running, it is not needed anymore.

seems you will lose your £585.

DAY TWO - LATEST BULLETIN
DEALER HAS AGREED TO REPLACE "C.P.S." AS THEY HAVE WASTED
ALL DAY YESTERDAY AND CAME UP WITH THE TRANSPONDER COP-OUT?
UTTER NONSENSE - SO I HAVE DEMANDED THEY REPLACE THE C.P.S. SO
AT LEAST I CAN ELIMINATE THAT PART SHOULD THE CAR PLAY UP IN FUTURE.
BUT DESPITE THE FACT I TOLD THEM THIS PART WAS NEEDED TWO DAYS AGO?
THEY TELL ME IT HAS TO BE ORDERED AND WONT BE FITTED UNTIL FRI AT THE
EARLIEST ????? - AND THEY WANT THE COURTESY CAR BACK NOW !!!!!!!
AAAARRRGGGHHHH

IF IT WASN'T SO SAD IT WOULD BE FUNNY

good idea too.

that will leave you only a few things to suspect, and can have a good spare CPS too for urgent case.

let us know mikeallan. thanks for sharing.

OK - GOT CAR BACK THIS AFTERNOON
To the dealers credit they have not charged me for thier wasted
time on Wed - so the bill for supply and install "c.p.s." was £124
(223$) - which is fair - IF THE CAR WORKS

TIME WILL TELL
I WILL KEEP U POSTED

Hi Sleepwalker,
Been following this one.
CPS?
= Engine Management System?
= Central Protection System?
I'm not familiar with all these MB acronyms. Please advise true translation.
I thought the motion sensor was intro at 2000 f/l.
I ask because I am still trying to sort out WHY I have the Interiuor Light / Security problems we have disscussed previously.
I'm confident that changing the PSE will solve matters but its the WHY I remain interested in.
