indicator relay question 1994 s320

my hazard lights flash constantly eventhough evrything else works ok, i have unpluged the centre plug from the relay and the hazards stop flashing without affecting anything else, just wondered what that centre plug is for as i dont want to be driving around if its trying to tell me something !!!

I'm confused as to what your referring to as the center plug.  The problem sounds like either a stuck switch or a stuck relay but I'm not with you on the center plug thing.  Care to expand a bit??
