Hi,

My 1986 300e only cranks over in neutral and not in park?

What do i have to do to solve this problem?

What do i look for?

The gear selector switch is faulty and sould shift to neutral without the engine running anyway, so replace it, as there is a starter inhibiter switch contianed in the gear selector assembly.

I had the same problem in 300TE . and now it has stopped working in neutral also
so getthat fixed before it blows out totally

do you know  how to bypass the neutral safety switch in 300 TE

The definite problem is the neutral safety switch. On bypassing it, dont even give yourself that headache. I have tried it before and it causes a domino effect with sensor lights. The n.s.s. is a fairly cheap part. My recommendation.... just replace it.

My 94 E320 will only start while in neutral.  Read on here that I needed to replace the gear selector switch.  Can't seem to find one for sale on any of the benz sites.  Plus can it be put on ourselves or is this another trip to the shop?

Is the Neutral Safety Switch the same as the gear selector switch?
