e320 misfire

Problem with 1997 e320 on kickdown at about 4500 revs engine starts to misfire as thou a rev limiter has come in. But driving normally engine revs past this with no problem. The car has done 120,000. Any help appreciated.

As you stated, the engine electronics has a rev limiter for protection of the engine.  This is not aproblem but a safety feature.
