What year was the last of the all cast in the E 320. Are their any advantages to the new aluminum engine or is the cast iron block a better more trouble free engine.

1997 e320 is cast block inline 6 cylinder with aluminum head. 1998 uses an all aluminum V6. I have heard that the cast block engine is more durable..(the million mile reputation) but I have had no experience with the aluminum engine.
