Left my sunroof open and it stormed, so water got on shifter box and must have seeped down. The car wont go out of park, so I had to manually override by putting a pen in spot near Drive. It now disengages and I can drive, but the RPMs are going high, as if I am in a low gear. Does anyone know how to manually go into Drive gear when in this manual mode?

REPLACE THE SHIFTER AND HOPE THAT NO OTHER PROBLEMS ARISE.  MB VEHILCES DO NOT LIKE WATER INSIDE.  KNOW OF A GL THAT HAD A FLOWER VASE OF WATER SPILL BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT AND COST THE OWNER $3000.00 TO REPAIR ALL ISSUES.

Thanks- yes it is an automatic. Just dropped it off to have the shifter replaced- driving in override did not seem good for the car- rpm''s were high!
