Driver''s Seat won''t release and fold forward

I just got my new baby. The one I''ve always wanted. A 1990 300SL with only 50,000 miles. The only problem so far that I can find besides a small hole in the exhaust (Apparently common on older Mercedes because I''ve had to repair the same problem on 3 of my others that I''ve had), is the driver''s side seat won''t release to fold forward. The passenger side works fine. The driver''s seat will release when the seat back is adjusted rather far forward. Thanks for any input

take the two long screws out from under the front of the cushion and lift up firmly on the front of the cushion and remove.  Move the seat forward.  Remove the two torque screws on the bottom of the back panel of the seat.  pull down on the back cushion and remove.  check operation of the cable.  If it''s not broken there is an adjustment to tighten the cable on the bottom side of the seat release handle.

That fixed the problem. Just needed a cable adjustment. Had a time getting the torque screws back in the back cushion, but it works none the less.
