I have a CLK500. When I press the lock button on my remote the fog lights and rear lights start to blink and wont stop, then the alarm sounds. I am have to lock it manually. Has anyone experienced this problem? Also does anyone know how much a new remote costs?

I''m currently having the same problems with my 04 clk 500 that I just bought a month ago, however, my smartkey works but the alarm activates on it own and no matter what I do, I can''t turn the alarm off, it simply shuts off on its own, its completely embarrassing and my neighbors now hate me. If you found anything out about your car, please let me know before I take mine to the MB dealership so they can charge me "an arm and a leg" for a stupid alarm problem.

I had the same problem on a 2002 ML500. I had to troubleshoot and found when i manually disabled the towing sensor it quit happening. So I went to the dealership and they only charged me $60USD to take the towing sensor out of the loop in the computer. Apparently its a known problem and the 98s used to always do it. They stated that it intermittently happened on various models. The easiest and cheapest solution was to take the towing sensor out of the loop. It worked and havent had any issues thus far.
