C-Class (MY 1998) Gearbox problems

Hi All,

My father has a 1998 C-180 with 60k miles. Its been pretty faultless until now !

Problem- when decelerrating to a roundabout or taking a sharp left the gearbox will intermittently lose all the gears...... it will then set into what I assume is a limp mode and lock the 'box in 3rd gear.

If you switch off and back on - the gearbox is fine.......

Is this a known fault ? Can anyone shed any light on this........ and is this going to be expensive.....??

Have you sorted the problem yet?
