I signed up for absentee ballot; they would mail me the ballot a few weeks before the actual election date.
The ballot has to received by 11/2, when they close all the polls.

There are absentee ballots mailed in by persons who can't be at the polls to vote on Nov 2.

There is also "early voting" where a person can go to a polling site to vote early without having to explain why they need to vote early.

It's expected that this year, about 20% of the voting will be done early through these two methods. This is unusually high.

GS, I have re-read most of your posts. Am I correct? The main reasons that I should have reservations about voting for Bush are:
1) The thousands of innocent citizens being killed in IRAQ. You are right, I have not looked into this concern. I will do some research on this tonight.

2) Billions of US Dollars are being spent in IRAQ. I will look into how much money Bush is asking for funding and how much money is actually spent.

I assume that tax cuts in a non-war situation, cuts in human embroyic stem celling funding, and the 3 or 4 judges that he will nominate are not really a problem with you.

For me, this is all about GW launching an inappropriate and unwarranted invasion of Iraq. The Bush administration duped the American people and the dimwits on Capital Hill into supporting this shameful action. The rest in minutia.

Tuesday is Election Day. Here are some pointers to keep in mind when heading to the polls:
Election Day Guide

* If at all possible, vote before work. That way, you can make smug comments to non-voters all day long.

* If your election official hooks you up to a machine via a needle in your arm, you are actually donating blood.

* Remember that, as a member of a participatory democracy, you have a duty to make your voice heard on Election Day. If you find that idea hard to grasp, think of it like the lotto: You can't win if you don't play.
* Don't wear dress shoes. They leave black scuff marks on gymnasium floors.
* Voting is no longer considered uncool. Note that it is not cool, either.
* Many newspapers offer sample ballots. Buy 10 copies and practice, practice, practice.

* Note from president
* Proof that your grandfather voted

* Receipt for your shoes
* Videotape of your first steps
* Halliburton employee ID
* Birthday card from grandmother
* Pint of sperm for DNA-identification purposes
* Casserole dish to pass
* A good friend who can totally vouch for you
* Signed $20 bill
* Autographed celebrity photo inscribed with your name

Did you hear the Frankenkerry supporter, Walter Cronkite, on Larry King's show say that he thinks Karl Rove produced the tape with bin Laden's cooperation? Larry King didn't even ask for elaboration. A couple of Kerry clowns chumming it up. You're in fine company.

Yes, Walter has a pretty dry sense of humor. His little joke inferred how much this tape was likely help Bush, as it was undoubtedly intended to do.

Well no matter what side of the road u choose. I personally am glad that the person that "Won" won the popular vote as well cause the electorial college is no longer a good idea It was when the country started but now it is time to trust the citizens to make the choice based on total votes.

The modification that some people in Colorado wanted was turned down by voters. It would have their state's electoral votes proportional to the respective popular votes. I thought it made a bunch of good sense. Change scares people, I guess.
