Hi All.  I did a search, but couldn't find any fix.

I have a 1999 C280, it's been a good little car.

Today when I turned off the key, I noticed the blower motor was not shutting off.  Even with the key removed from the ignition, the blower motor stayed on.  I had to pull the fuse (#29) to get it to shut off.

Could someone tell me what the likely cause is?  I'm guessing either the blower motor regulator or the climate control.   If so, is there a relatively easy way to figure out which it is?

Also, there is a bit of an engine oil leak from somewhere in the front of the motor.   Is there a typical area up there that tends to leak?  I haven't cleaned the engine yet to find the leak.

thanks

I had that problem on my old 600SL. Ya it usualy stays on for like 3min or so. I had to get a fuse of somesort replaced.

the problem is the blower motor regulator which is on the blower itself. it can be replaced seperatly. easy job.

Thanks for the info.  Funny thing is the car is just fine today!  So I've got an intermittent glitch.

Next time it messes up, I'll check out that regulator.

the regulator is the likely defect however inspect your cowl drains. Clogged cowl drains have been causing for overflow into the cabin intake in turn causing for shorting motors and regulators.

Excellent suggestion, thanks.  Since it hasn't rained in a week here now, the car has had a chance to dry out, and the problem has disappeared.  I guess the regulator got a bit damp and malfunctioned, then reverted back to normal once it dried out.

Where would one find the cowl drains on the 1999 C280?

thanks
