battery replacement

2003 sl500.
when replacing the  batteries...can anyone tell me if the front, starting battery
supports any memory devices in the car..
and  if when changing either battery , front or read,  is it ok to bridge a temporary  12 v supply to keep the memories alive.

Glen,
This link, http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1354005-what-do-r129-dead-battery.html , will take you to a string of posts on this topic.  Of particular interest may be the free roadside assistance from Mercedes posting.  If you're in the US, for around $125, they come to you, install the new battery, and take care of any system resets that need to be done.  Good luck-
