Any common problems on 2001 or 2002 SLK's?

No, I don't own an SLK yet, but I'm looking at a 2001 320 or a 2002 AMG. Are there any common problems a newbie needs to know about with either model?

If you want to save money, what about a 1999 230?

I have heard about the peeling dash, was this fixed at some point?
