Hi 600,

I noticed your recent wiring harness post. I just purchased a 95 SL600 a few weeks ago. Love it! but in checking with the local MBZ shop I was told that these are know for poor quality engine wiring harnesses that lose their insulation and short. Is this what happeded to you?

Caliber Motors in Anaheim California is an M-B dealer that discounts their parts. Call (800) 252-6877 and ask for Don Tibbetts or one of the other guys in their wholesale parts department.

Yes, the wiring harness going to the Cam Position Sensors is beginning to fall apart. Insulation is falling off the wires.

Noticed it when doing a Major Tune-Up over the weekend.

This is an EXTREMELY POOR design by Mercedes. Not sure why they couldn't have used better wiring. Also really can't understand why they are not supporting the fact that they screwed up and try to help the affected owners to get their car fixed.

No instead they decide to "INCREASE" the price of the crappy wiring harnesses. The cost of the harness from the local dealer here is $3,000.00 which is friggin rediculous ! I could buy another car for that much !

This is a HUGE Mercedes disappointment.
