For the 2nd time since taking delivery in December, I started the car to go to work, radio came on, radio started crackeling, then radio sound quit. CD changer still plays w/ sound but 3 minutes later, still no radio sound.... any similar experiences/solutions? How do I get the radio sound back. Will try the radio lunch time.

This seems to be a common problem and I will not get the command system on my new CDI. MB recalled these and offered a buyback program similar to Mazda's RX8 because of non functioning navi. I got this info on the RX8 forum. They were supposed to have this corrected by the time you made your purchase. We can send freakin rovers to mars yet we can't get a radio to work in our cars ,WTF is up with that. The pathetic Beckers in 5 pevious MB I have owned at least worked! Don't let the dealer wiggle out of fixing this problem. You have a lot of Rubels on the table. They should replace the entire unit (which as I understand is nearly impossible with the navi .

I got a response at another Benz BB that said there is a software upgrade available for my early '04 radio/nav. The car was built in late October & delivered late Dec. I must say the car is flawless, as far as taking delivery of a new car can be... The only othing that doesn't seem to work is the driver's seat moving far back to exit after shutting sown the engine & opening the door, even though it is programmed to do that.

I don't see a problem with the nav. I guess thats why they withheld it from all the '03s, when they saw they had a problem. Why they bought back some cars is because the dealers believed that the Nav's would be forthcoming & retrofitted as M-B had said, & leased the cars with this option, so people were making monthly payments based on a given price & didn't get what they paid for. M-B then did the right thing. Rather than bother with renegotiating a done finance contract, they swapped the 1 yr old cars for new ones. Neat!

Customer service is a big deal with me.   If I have a issue as all machines do,, It's how they treat me at the dealership that will make repeat sale.  This includes the quality of the repair.   I bought my Vet from a well known nationwide cadillac dealer but the service dept sent me to another dealer for better service.   My next vet will be from the dealer that provided the better service.    Same is true from wifey's E500.   There may be an issue,, but I will give the dealer a fair shot.

FYI  I did write the home office of the caddy dealer and the dealer to provide information on their service.  But true to form they never replied

Nuff Said.  Ya'll have a nice day.
