’03 C230 armrest "port"

just picked up a 2003 C230 Sedan, have had it 2 days (IN LOVE!) I have a question...

In the upper tray of the armrest there is a plastic cover over some kind of electrical port, does anyone know the function of this? I am hoping that it ties into the stereo some way.

Any ideas?

Looking for advice on how to hard wire an Ipod too? Has anyone had any success. The dealer I spoke with was hesistant to help because of the complex set up of the electronics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think the port is for the intergrated motorola phone..
