has anyone tried the upgrade to 18 inch wheels .................opinions ?
Is the ride much worse ? Better off staying with 17" ?

17 to 18 is not too noticeable...
difference when you go 19s...

no rubbing problems going that wide ? what brand of tires ?

Absolutley NOT....Good YEAR EAGLE F1 ....
I myself am tring to add 19's from 16's on my 1999 SLK. perhaps, I'll consider the 18's instead
